Skilling Leaders
The Skilling Leaders phase supports adult members develop their managerial and leadership skills to apply in the home, community and workforce.
Applicants
Indigenous adults 25 years and over with cultural ties to Cape York, Palm Island and Yarrabah who are looking to develop their leadership skills. They might be looking to contribute to the community by beginning their own enterprise, entering into the workforce, progressing within their current job or becoming a stronger role model in the community and home.
Purpose
Through training in management, governance and personal development this phase provides members with key skills to become role models within their families and communities, enter into the workforce and/or seek promotional opportunities. Those members currently unemployed will develop skills that will allow them to identify their professional goals and construct steps towards entry into their field of choice.
Features
Members attend workshops facilitated by credible local and international leaders and receive on-going one-on-one support from the Cape York Leaders Program staff.

2 – 4 years
Phase progression
Graduates are encouraged to apply for the Excelling Leaders phase to extend their skill sets and go on to become leaders in the broader community. Graduates commencing or undergoing study may also apply for the Academic Leaders phase.
