The ladies in the Aurukun Women’s Art Activity recently produced 90 screen printed t-shirts for the Wik Kath Min Project.
This is an ongoing project aiming to build a more peaceful, integrated community in Aurukun for all, and bringing together community actors and Governance, Policy, Research & Evaluation and Community Development teams. The two main goals of the Project are peace and empowerment, and the activities provide a hands-on opportunity for women from different clans to gather in the same space. There is now a community working group of women handing out these t-shirts, sharing handouts with artworks and good news stories produced by the Project, and yarning with many different community members.
Cape York Employment is very proud to be involved in this fantastic initiative.
