For their Term 3 Term Event, our Secondary Academic Leaders from Djarragun College and Peace Lutheran College were lucky enough to do a Kuku Yalanji Cultural Habitat Tours at Kuyu Kuyu (Cooya Beach). These are the traditional fishing grounds of the Kuku Yalanji people, and Brandon shared his knowledge about traditional fishing practices and local plants used for food and medicine, while we scoured the mangroves and mudflats for tucker.

Weekend Term Events in each of our partner school regions – Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton and Brisbane – give our leaders the opportunity to build relationships with CYLP students at other schools in their region, connect to culture and have fun!

Thank you Brandon and the Walker family for welcoming us to your country and sharing your knowledge.
