Late last year there was widespread frustration in Australia’s indigenous community when the Prime Minister rejected the much-anticipated Uluru Statement from the Heart.

The statement called for a ‘First Nations Voice’ to Parliament to be enshrined in the Constitution but Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said the new advisory body would ‘become seen as a third chamber of Parliament’.

Ahead of NAIDOC week next week, indigenous affairs researcher, Shireen Morris has released a book that seeks to renew the push for recognition.
