Soon-to-be Year 12 Graduate Sonai Mene aspires to become a paramedic in her home community of Yarrabah, and her fellow leaders Michael and Justinelle also aspire to forge a career path in the health field.
CYLP are committed to supporting our young leaders in their transition from high school, and exposure to various industries and its professionals is key to helping our leaders visualise their next steps. We arranged a special opportunity for these three Djarragun College students to connect with the Queensland Ambulance Service Paramedics at Yarrabah.
Acting Officer in Charge Patrick Lasalo and Indigenous Paramedic Officer Richard Murgha, a local Yarrabah man, gave insightful and inspirational talks about their journeys, roles and experiences as paramedics, in addition to providing demonstrations with the equipment and mannequins.
The group walked away inspired to learn more about health pathways, and are eager to pay another visit to the station and spend more time with the Paramedics.
