Third Bishop Kevin Manning Lecture

Third Bishop Kevin Manning Lecture, Sydney, Dec, 2014: Noel Pearson

What is the best way for Aboriginal Australia to rise from its position of economic underprivilege?

Indigenous activist and director of the Cape York Institute for Policy and Leadership, Noel Pearson, is in search of the “radical centre” in Australian politics, to take the best from Left and Right in order to deliver better outcomes for his people.

In this address to 300 guests of the Catholic Commission for Employment Relations last month in Sydney, Pearson opens with a reflection on Mabo, and goes on to discuss the post-Whitlam project for equality.

The Bishop Kevin Manning Lecture is a biennial event which focuses on principles for the common good.

Bishop Kevin Manning attended the lecture held in honour of his work in the development of Catholic workplaces as places of justice and human dignity.

Also sponsored by the University of Notre Dame, Australia.
