Joshua Newman enrolled with CYLP as an Academic Secondary Leader in 2012 and has, in 2016, completed his Year 12 studies at the Cathedral School of St Anne and St James.
During his schooling, Joshua maintained strong academic results.
He also demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, representing his school nationally and internationally as a North Queensland Open schoolboy’s Rugby Union representative.
Joshua also held a leadership position as Boarding Captain in 2016, for which he received positive feedback from his peers as well as teaching and boarding staff.
Additionally, Joshua has attended annual CYLP Leadership camps throughout his time as an Academic Leader, during which he has been involved in public speaking and leading group activities.
These opportunities have helped Joshua develop his confidence and leadership skills. Whilst at Cathedral School, Joshua also completed a Certificate II in Business and Certificate III in Fitness.
He plans to transition into the CYLP Tertiary Program in 2017 to undertake a Bachelor of Education at James Cook University.
After his studies, Joshua wishes to pursue his dream of becoming a Physical Education Teacher and help other members of his home community of Bamaga to improve their health and wellbeing by developing fitness and nutrition programmes.
We wish Joshua all the best with this noble goal. Â Â
