Overview
‘O’ for opportunity
The O-Hubs are purpose-built community centres designed to empower families of Cape York to take control of their lives.
Located in Aurukun, Coen, Hope Vale and Mossman Gorge, with outreach services to Lockhart River and Wujal Wujal, the O-Hub is a safe space for all community members. They can come to speak with knowledgeable staff who encourage and support them to take responsibility for their finances, health and their children’s educational costs.
The O-Hub enables and builds the capabilities of individuals and families through a suite of Opportunity Products, which have been co-designed by Cape York Partnership and the Indigenous communities they support.

Pama Platform to bring all Opportunity products togetherWhy it Matters
The long hand of government intervention in the lives of Indigenous people has too often smothered Indigenous initiative, leadership and responsibility.
Cape York Partnership recognises that individuals and families are the key agents of change in their move from passive welfare to self-reliance, economic freedom and prosperity. While we can’t make change for them, we can empower and inspire them to learn and grow, so they can do so independently.
A focus on building the financial capabilities and life skills of welfare dependent individuals will ensure that Indigenous rights and responsibility exist in proper balance.
What we are Doing
Each O-Hub offers many Opportunity Products as well as support for a web-based app – Pama Platform – that brings them all together along with community updates, challenges and job-seeking support.
O-Hub also supports Mayi Market in the communities of Mossman Gorge, Hope Vale, Wujal, Wujal, Coen and Aurukun.
Hundreds of individuals and families are making use of these products to get their lives on track. The O-Hub has become part of the fabric of each community it supports. It is a space where community members – young and old – feel comfortable to come to for advice, support and to stay connected to their community.
Opportunity Products
O-Hub partners can sign up to MPower to gain support with online banking, budgets, purchasing and debts. MPower focusses on building the financial literacy of each partner so they can become disciplined money managers who plan for the future.
Pama is a web-based app that is the digital home to all O-Hub Opportunity Products. It helps individuals and families manage their finances, view account balances, create resumes, upload and save important documents and keeping up-to-date with the latest news from their community.
Co-designed by Cape York Families, a Homelands account provides structured support to assist families in managing the ongoing and development costs related to their lands. Backed by a family agreement, each member contributes regular funds to be used solely for property-related costs.
