During English with Miss Karen, the senior girls are currently reading ‘Holes’, an exciting story about a young boy called Stanley, who was wrongly charged and convicted for stealing a pair of sneakers.
So far, the girls have explored the setting and relate to the reasons why Stanley chose to go to Camp Green Lake, when given a choice to go to jail or Camp Green Lake.
However, digging holes in the barren country described in the text certainly doesn’t sound like fun, and the girls are keen to find out what happens next.
As the girls continue reading, they will examine the text structure, language features used and characters described within the book and create reviews to share.
