Why it Matters

Secure homes and well-cared-for homelands are central to family stability, connection to Country and long-term prosperity.

As families strengthen their rights and responsibilities over land and housing, they also face practical costs such as rates, water, maintenance and building needs.

Homelands helps families share these costs, reduce financial pressure and protect important places for future generations.

the opportunity

Homelands gives families a structured way to save together for agreed land and property costs, without the burden falling on one person.

Families create their own Family Agreement, setting out the savings goal, who will contribute, how much each person will contribute and what the funds can be used for. Contributions are made into a dedicated Homelands account and funds are only released for approved expenses.

This helps families share responsibility, plan ahead and protect important places.

Impact

Homelands is helping families protect homes, care for Country and meet important property costs together.

In 2025, families saved $33,000, bringing total contributions to $240,000. Payments of $40,000 were made during the year, with $190,000 paid out to date to support land security and housing outcomes.

The impact is practical and personal. Families have used Homelands savings to cover costs such as water and council rates, maintain family properties and purchase equipment to care for land.
