Joel is a proud Yirrganydji man and Traditional Custodian of the coastal region between Cairns and Port Douglas. He brings over 20 years’ experience across the building, construction and civil sectors, with a career that spans hands-on trade roles through to senior leadership and business ownership.
Joel has held leadership roles including General Manager of SDC Group, where he was responsible for budget management, workforce leadership, operational performance and systems improvement. In this role he led productivity improvements, implemented structured processes and supported organisational growth through strong team leadership and coordination.
Prior to this, Joel was the Managing Director of JDM Concrete Pumping, where he was responsible for end-to-end business operations including client acquisition, contract delivery and workforce management. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Project Manager delivering complex projects across multiple stakeholders, developing strong capability in planning, procurement, contractor management and delivery oversight.
Joel holds a Bachelor of Business majoring in Human Resource Management, complementing his practical experience with formal capability in workforce leadership, governance and organisational development.
More recently, Joel was engaged by Cape York Partnership as Infrastructure Project Manager for The Great Dreaming Track, leading the delivery of remote tourism infrastructure across culturally significant and logistically challenging environments. Drawing on a career built around disciplined project delivery, contract administration and commercial management, he has developed a strong reputation for managing complex projects with a focus on scope, cost and delivery outcomes. Joel now serves as Account Area Manager with Boral, overseeing concrete and quarry operations across the region and leading large-scale production, logistics and operational teams.
