Ready to lead in 2025

Djarragun College senior students gathered in the auditorium for an important announcement, who would lead their college for the year ahead? The Leadership Induction celebrated students stepping into key leadership roles.

The College Leaders are chosen to set a strong example for their peers, fostering both personal and academic growth. The Academic Captain supports students in their studies, while the Culture Captain promotes and preserves the school’s rich cultural identity. House Captains unite their houses and drive success in key sporting events. The Transition Captain ensures new students feel welcome and supported, while the Boarding Captain helps create a positive and inclusive boarding environment.

Djarragun College’s 2025 student leaders are ready to guide and inspire. College Captain Ziair Allen is supported by Vice Captain Elekana Murgha, with Academic Captain Solace Barnaby, Culture Captain Lowella Miller, Transition Captain Ali Wosomo, and Boarding Captain Nathaniel Bosun leading in their respective areas. House leadership includes Kundii House Captain Rhy’anah Kabai, Waru House Captain Shamira Assan, and Guyala House Captain Maysharn Noble.

After the ceremony, College Captain Ziair shared what leadership meant to her. “A good leader is someone who leads, not follows,” she said. “A leader tries new things and keeps an optimistic view.”

Ziair admitted that she hadn’t initially planned to run for College Captain until encouragement from her teachers and peers pushed her to take on the challenge. She found herself stepping up and ready to embrace the role and leave a lasting impression. “Leadership isn’t about being perfect,” Ziair said. “It’s about making sure everyone feels comfortable in their own learning journey and reminding them that it’s okay not to know everything – that’s exactly why we’re here: to learn.”

With the ceremony complete, Djarragun College’s new leaders stepped out onto the college grounds ready to take on their responsibilities and lead the way.
