For the love of our children

The 2024 Pama Futures Forum brought together over 80 Cape York change makers to reflect on decades of advocacy and set a course for the future. Built on the foundation of self-determination, the workshop reinforced the power of community-led decision-making in addressing long-standing challenges.

Cape York leaders gathered at the Baninh Yeeum building (Cape York Partnership office) in Cairns for three days to discuss the future of their communities. Throughout the Forum, several key areas were identified for attention: education, health and language, with education being the primary focus. Completing Year 12 is vital for improving educational outcomes and enhances the lives of Indigenous peoples through better employment opportunities and access to healthcare.
