The
youth of Cape York face major barriers to education, with limited access high school or university. Cape York Leaders Program has been changing this for 20 years – with your support, we can do even more.

The youth of Cape York are our future. Yet, the gap in education continues to hinder their growth and opportunities. The lack of high schools and universities means that for many Cape York kids, their schooling stops at primary school, limiting their future career pathways and creating a cycle of disadvantage. For the last 20 years, Cape York Leaders Program has been empowering the next generation of leaders with secondary and tertiary scholarships to the best boarding schools in Queensland and universities throughout Australia. With many promising students heading into high school each year, there is more to be done.

If you believe the next generation deserves the chance to reach their potential, it’s time to empower the youth of Cape York. $1,500 would equip a student with the same tech package as their peers. $5,000 would support a tertiary leader for a semester, $10,000 a whole year of university, $30,000 a whole degree!

Young
people from remote communities often lack access to quality healthcare. The one-of-a-kind Ngak Min Health is changing that by delivering vital, culturally responsive care directly on campus at Djarragun College.

Access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right, yet many young people from remote communities lack access, especially when boarding away for school. Ngak Min Health is tackling these challenges head-on by providing healthcare services directly on the Djarragun College campus. This unique model provides much-needed medical, mental health and wellbeing support in a centralised, accessible space. In 2024, Ngak Min provided 2,267 episodes of care and 428 counselling sessions to 490 active clients. This innovative approach removes traditional barriers and has proven to improve health-seeking behaviour.

With culturally responsive care, Ngak Min Health provides holistic support with a focus on preventive care. Your support can help further this vital work: $100 would fund one full comprehensive  health check health, $1000 would provide a series of mental health workshops for students, and $10,000 would enable the expansion of outreach services to surrounding communities, ensuring more people can access the care they deserve.

Too
many First Nations young people finish school without a clear path to employment, leading to disengagement and a cycle of disadvantage. The School to Jobs initiative changes this by connecting students with real career opportunities, training and mentorship.

For many First Nations people, the transition from school to the workforce can be a daunting challenge. With limited job opportunities, the lack of a clear pathway to a job often leads to disengagement and a perpetuation of disadvantage. The School to Jobs initiative works with students from Djarragun College, Cape York Girl Academy and the Cape York Leaders Program to bridge this gap by providing targeted support that connects students with meaningful career opportunities, mentorship and training.

Too many First Nations young people finish school with nowhere to go—no job, no support, and no clear path forward. The result? Disengagement, dependency, and the cycle of welfare continues. School to Jobs is here to break that cycle. We work with students from Djarragun College, Cape York Girl Academy, and the Cape York Leaders Program to turn potential into action—connecting them with real jobs, hands-on training, and strong mentors who walk beside them. This isn’t just about getting a job. It’s about building futures grounded in independence, purpose, and pride—and making sure our young people never end up trapped in the welfare system.

By partnering with local businesses and training providers, S2J prepares young people for successful careers, equipping them with the skills and support they need to thrive in the workforce. Your support can help make this transition smoother: $1,500 would fund a student’s work readiness program, $5,000 would support one young person through a whole apprenticeship, while $10,000 would provide a full year of career guidance, job placement, and industry-specific training for multiple students.
