ABOUT THE ARTIST
“My name is Gwen and I am from the small town of Babinda which is located fifty-Seven Kilometers from the city of Cairns. I live with my mother and siblings. I have three sisters and four brothers in my family. My totem is the fresh water long neck turtle on my fathers side and the scorpion on my mothers side.

I like to paint my traditional totems in a contemporary context. I like to work with bright colours. My lastest artwork depicts a family of black cockatoos which represents my family.

I enjoy doing art as a subject and want to continue doing art when I complete school. When I graduate from school I would like to work in an Art Gallery or Artist Cooperative and be part of the Arts Community.”
