ABOUT THE ARTIST
“My name is Tarek and I am from the Aboriginal community of Laramba which is located in the Northern Territory in Central Australia. There are 239 residents who live there. In my family I have one brother and two sisters. I am the second eldest child in my family.
The community is located 205 km northwest of Alice Springs and it takes 2.5 hours to drive there. Access to the community is by the Napperby station road, which runs west from the Stuart Highway, 122 kms north of Alice Springs. The community is located 83 km from the turnoff on a dirt road. I have lived in Laramba all my life.
My family totem on my father’s side is the “Arkey” which in the desert.
I like to paint and draw. One day I want to exhibit by paintings in an art gallery and make a living from of my art work.”
