The youth of Cape York face major barriers to education, with very limited access to high school and university. Year 12 completion is the single strongest predictor of employment, health, income and life expectancy. It determines whether a young person steps into adulthood with opportunities – or without them.
For the last 20 years, Cape York Leaders Program has been empowering the next generation of leaders with more than 620 secondary and tertiary scholarships to the best boarding schools in Queensland and universities throughout Australia.
Our alumni can be found right throughout Australia working in a wide variety of influential roles, with many returning to their home community to share their knowledge and skills.
With many promising applicants missing out on a scholarship each year, there is more to be done.
$1,500 would equip a student with the same tech package as their peers. $5,000 would support a tertiary leader for a semester, $10,000 a whole year of university, $30,000 a whole degree!
